DESCRIPTION

A standard test specimen is pressed against a rubber rimmed wheel rotating in a slurry containing grit of controlled size and composition. Loss of mass is measured by weighing the sample before and after the test. Loss of volume is computed to facilitate comparison of wear resistance of materials of different densities.

Test load is set before the start of the experiment with calibrated load cell.
Stirring paddles on both sides of wheel agitate the abrasive slurry during the test.
A programmable counter stops the test after preset number of revolutions.
