1. Application:
This apparatus is used to test the softening temperature of asphalt materials to identify the viscosity and heat resisting property. It is suitable for the asphalt materials like stringy petroleum asphalt, stringy shale tar, hard coal asphalt, soft coal asphalt, etc.
2. Principle:
Use ring and ball method to test the softening point of stringy petroleum asphalt.
Put the asphalt specimen in the specified brass ring, and put the specified size and weight stell ball onto it. Put them into water or glycerin, heating up with the speed of 5±0.5oC/min until the steel ball descend to the specified distance (25mm), this temperature is the softening point of this specimen.
