PCR Process Observer

Brief and feature

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a scientific technique in molecular biology to amplify a single or a few copies of a piece of DNA across several orders of magnitude, generating thousands to millions of copies of a particular DNA sequence. The method relies on thermal cycling, consisting of cycles of repeated heating and cooling of the reaction for DNA melting and enzymatic replication of the DNA. Primers (short DNA fragments) containing sequences complementary to the target region along with a DNA polymerase (after which the method is named) are key components to enable selective and repeated amplification. As PCR progresses, the DNA generated is itself used as a template for replication, setting in motion a chain reaction in which the DNA template is exponentially amplified. PCR can be extensively modified to perform a wide array of genetic manipulations.

PCR Process Observer combines the following 3 functions to be a unique and convenient teaching apparatus.

-DNA PCR;

-Gel imaging system;

-Visual observation to the PCR process. This is very unique and helpful for senior school biology course.

User instructions

a) Preparation: Plug in the PCR observer and connect with PC by USB. Switch on PCR observer and PC;

b) Parameter setup: see product insert.

Default setup

User can reset parameter according above instruction (number of steps cannot be changed).

Buttons introduction:

The temperature displayed on “Temperature display lower” is 0.8°C higher than the set number.

Re-cycling and ending

a) In order to end the program in the middle of cycling, please push button (10). Temperature will naturally cool down to 42°C;

b) In order to start a new cycle, please push button (10) after temperature cool down to 42°C;

c) In order to end the program, please do not unplug the temperature has aturally cooled down to 42°C.
