One essential element of tranditional interferometer is the secure detection of the bright / dark transitions ever for variable contrast conditions which may establish due to modification of the initial adjustment during the displacement of the measuring reflector.
This Laser Interferometer uses a new interference method to form a state of polarization instead of fringes. With special detection of the polarization, a pair of TTL signals, phase shifted by 90° with respect to each other, will be created. These two TTL signals can be counted as the nunmber of the wavelenth, by means to obtain the displacement. And the direction of the displacement can be also determined by the phase of the two signals.
