Principle and Features
Laser particle size analyzers use the principle of laser light scattering to determine particle size distribution, which is of wide dynamic measuring range, rapid measurement, easy operation and wide applications. It can be used to measure the size distribution of various solid powders, particle suspensions and fog drops. Generally the instruments are specially designed according to various applications.

Light Scattering Phenomena
Light will departure from its original traveling direction when met particles. Large particles generate small scattered angles (figure A), small particles generate large scattered angles (figure B). The larger of the angle scattered lights detected, the lower measurement range will be realized.
Optical Structure
Laser particle size analyzer is an optical instrument in nature. We have developed the Integrated Laser Emitter, Trapezoid Measurement Cell, multiple patents such as scattered light Detection Around a Sphere surface (DAS), scattered light Detection in Two mutually perpendicular Planes (DTP), which have greatly improved the performances of the laser particle size analyzers.

The simple optical structure (spherical layout of large angle light detectors) solves the accurate focusing of large angle scattered light.
Scattered light Detection in Two mutually perpendicular Planes (DTP)
On the premise of stable total laser output, random fluctuation of large angle scattered light still exists. This is due to the emulative character of the polarized light(large angle-scattered light is partially polarized).
The patent is to receive the scattered light on two mutually perpendicular surfaces, the average value of the two received light intensities represents the light intensity of the scattering angle. This can significantly reduce the scattered light intensity fluctuations.
Calculation of Scattered Light Energy:
The calculation of scattered light energy is the foundation for getting accurate size distribution. The instruments adopt full Mie theory and can measure particles from submicron to one thousand microns.
