Instructions of wireless remote reading water meter

With the development of the communication technology and the lower communication expense, it’s possible to realize the wireless remote reading and control the water meter by the wireless communication web for the hydropenic countries or cities all over the world.

According to the requirements from different countries, we compiled the Instructions as follow, As reference for world wide users, please timely feed back to meet the actual need of users in order to provide high-quality meter.

A.The performance index of the base water meter

a. Security: non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-biological hazards alloy casing, could afford the pressure exceeding 2.0Mpa, in accordance with international standards, provided in the pipe with standard water pressure, no crack or leaking would happen.

b. Accuracy: pressure loss is in accordance with water meter international standards, Q3=2500L/h or Q3=4000L/h optional,R=100,2% accuracy. In line with the relevant requirement of international standard.

c. Interchangeability: This product could be used for replacing old DN15 or DN20 meters, and used as newly-set ones. DN15 and DN20 could be also used to replace each other.

B,Ele-control function

a. Current Quantity Reading: The data is from the direct-reading register of basic meter and changed into electronic signal, and is guaranteed to be the current quantity, the same as the user’s reading.

b. Reliability of date: Using the patent technology, the read electronic data is exactly actual display of digital, without reading dead area.

c. Anti-magnetic interference ability: The product can not be interfered by out magnet, because of no ferromagnetic material.

d. Low consumption: The system “sleeps” on usual time, with a very low consumption.

C. Communication system function

a. communication device: Using GSM communication device, meter switch the data with the GSM receiver of the management dept

b. communication: Point to Point SMS transmission way.

c. Communication control: The sending power of the communication device is high, this leads to higher consumption. So the power being cut off at usual time, the electric control device start the meter only when communication need.

d. Antenna: Set on the battery box at a certain height, adapting the communication conditions.

D. Power supply

a. Solutions select: The client could select the lithium battery, AA alkaline battery or electric power supply solutions.

b. Lithium battery solution: 2pcs of AA lithium battery series connection, the volt supply is 7.2V. According to battery life needed, we could use 4pcs of AA lithium batteries, parallel connection and series connection. This solutions is suitable for the water meter with valve and without valve.

c. Alkaline battery solution: In order to reduce the cost and convenience, the client could select 4pcs of AA alkaline batteries to supply 6 volt.

d. Electric power supply: This solution can be used under the continuous electric power supply, which will be changed into a 7V DC power supply to the system. And It only can be used in the meter with a valve control system, of which the valve will be closed when power is off.

E. Reading and Control Method

a. Send by fixed time: The monthly fixed time can be set by the SMS, and system will work on time, sending current data to the management dept. The meter will receive the broadcasting data from the dept by SMS at the same time. The fixed time can be set and updated by the management dept by SMS. And reading by fixed time is the important way to realize tiered charges.

b. Send by fixed quantity: According to the program, the system read and test the quantity used, and compare with the fixed quantity. If the used quantity is equal or lager than the fixed one, system will send the data to the management dept by SMS. And the fixed quantity can be set and update by the management dept.

c. Send by both fixed time and quantity: The system can be set to send current data at fixed time and at the time when used quantity reaches a certain amount.

d. Physical-starting mode: You can push the button (mainly used to test and start the valve) on the meter to send the data. System will send a message to report when the battery is working out or need to be replaced; When the valve is open or closed, the system will send a message. In order to save power, detecting sensor can be equiped in the water meter, when sensor is activated, the system will start and send data once, then the power is cut off.

e. Data download: The management system will send the updating data to the meter by SMS when receives the data from the meter. The system updates the data automatically and then closes.

f. Valve control: The management system will close the valve by SMS when confirms that the valve of a meter with valve control function needs to be closed after receiving the data. If the valve fits the requirement to restart, user can plug the start button(M12 button) to send the data, and the valve will open after receiving the SMS from the management system.

F. Anti-cheating

a. If the cheating method such as short circuit, open circuit, low voltage, and magnetic interference happens in the meters, the power of which can be controlled by users, the system will shut down immediately.

b. If the date can not reach the management system, the problem could be as follow: power off ( valve closed), bad environment (weak field density), cheating (cover the antenna with matel wire). Then maintenance work shoule drop in to checking the meter according to the user information in the management system.

G.. Related Issues

a. Before installation, manegement dept puts a SIM card into the meter, and that makes the meter be in the point-to-point communication mode with the dept.

b. The related policy of local mobil communication company should be known, such as the fee for opening account, monthly expenses, charging mode and SMS cost.

c. Theoretically, there is on upper limit of users, all of which can switch date with management dept using the SMS through the net of communication company.

d. The SMS receiver device communicates with the management computer through 232 serial port. All the information of user are in the software and data base of the management computer. The reading process of user meter can be done both automatically and manually.

H. User management and data issue system

The software of user management and data issue system contains the following function module: User management, Remote operation management, Statistical analysis management, Report output management, System parameter setting.
